I was born in the wrong era, I think that must be it. I really don't like these times, the violence and aggression of it just ... annoys me. I find the unbridled selfishness that lives in the hearts and minds of people really quite pathetic.
Is it really so hard for people to think of the future? And to remember the past? The blood of millions has been spilled to bring us the degree of freedom we have. So, why is it people feel it necessary to kill other people who just have an opinion. Nothing more and nothing less.
Why is it that someone felt the need to kill an artist here in The Netherlands?
Yes, sure, that artist was (c)rude and obnoxious and could have chosen his words better at times. But, that doesn't warrant the assassination that took place. Nothing warrants silencing someone by killing them. If you don't agree with someone, you tell them. You talk with them. Heck, curse and swear if you want. But you don't go picking up a gun and emptying several clips on that person.
You don't. You just don't. Is it really so hard for people to respect the miracle of life itself? Or the blood that was spilled over the course of history to give us the freedom we have in this age?
Please, someone show me where it says in the Koran, the Bible or any other 'holy' book that it's warranted to kill someone over what their opinion is. Please, someone show me... and I'll laugh. Laugh at your silly holy books.
You don't need some book to tell you what's right and what's wrong. It should be in yourself, in your heart and mind. In your soul, if there is such a thing. And my soul tells me it is never OK to kill someone. Never ever. Least of all over what they say and think.
An opinion is just that, an opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.
"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me."
For example, I don't like anything our Prime Minister has to say. As far as I am concerned he's an incompetent wanker. Who doesn't know what's right for this country. But, do you see me going out, buying a gun and assassinating him? No, you don't. You would never see me doing something like that. I RESPECT the man, just for what he is... a human being. He has a life, a wife, kids... pains, hurts, desires and whatever makes us alive. He has the right to live.
I think that's key here... nothing you could possibly say could, at any time void your right to live.
I don't believe in any God. But, if there is a God... he/she/it is the ONLY one that has the right to control life and death. We don't.
If God wanted us to kill each other over our opinions, he wouldn't have given us a mouth.
